"THE CHILD GREW AND BECAME STRONG IN SPIRIT."
LUKE 1:80
About
GENERAL INFORMATION
Lakeview Christian believes that in order to develop a child's academic potential, we must first meet a child's emotional and spiritual needs. We believe in a Whole Child approach that concentrates on all areas of a child's developmental needs. We believe there is nothing more important than building a deep relationship with Jesus Christ. We believe learning that is engaging can be fun and impactful. We believe mistakes are an opportunity to learn and grow. We believe growth happens when children are appreciated for their God given gifts and lovingly instructed to move to the next level. We believe in daily PE classes and weekly Art classes. We believe the outside world that God has gifted us with is one of the best classrooms around so we are growing our Outdoor Classroom. We believe learning occurs differently in each child so we work to provide a variety of experiences, settings, and opportunities to engage all students! SPIRITUAL DEVELOPMENT Students at Lakeview have the opportunity to develop their Biblical knowledge through daily Bible Lessons. We also gather together once a week for worship and chapel. Older students have the opportunity to grow their leadership skills by taking on roles in this weekly chapel time. We believe some of the most important spiritual development occurs through teacher interactions and coaching as students encounter issues that test them. Specific religious doctrine is not taught, and the children are not pushed toward any specific Christian denomination. Our teachers represent several Christian denominations and are active in their respective churches. SERVICE While we feel it is vital to pour into our students to grow them in every way we can, we also feel it is important to develop a desire for them to give back and serve others as Jesus did. Throughout the year, we look for ways to encourage our students to think of others' specific needs and give back in ways they can. Last year we did a supply drive for the victims in the Bahamas impacted by Hurricane Irma, each class created a scarecrow that was auctioned off at our Harvest Festival for a local family, and we collected dollars for Children's Bibles at Christmas. This year we focused on the needs of those hit hard by Covid. HISTORY Lakeview Christian School, a K-3 through 8th grade school and a mission of Memorial United Methodist Church, opened in the fall of 1985 as a result of a burden the Lord Jesus Christ placed on the heart of several members of our community. The school was established with the purpose of teaching Christian, patriotic, and moral principles and pursuing academic excellence. Sunday School classes were converted into school rooms, administration and staff were hired, furniture and equipment was purchased and the news of Lakeview Christian School spread. Lakeview opened with four classes: Kindergarten-4, Kindergarten-5, First/Second Grade, and Third/Fourth Grade. Fifth Grade was added in the fall of 1992 with separate classrooms for each grade level. Middle School was added in the fall of 2018. We are thankful the Lord continues to bless our school, staff, and children! |
